We aim to provide a safe, secure, stimulating environment for children from three years of age until they start school in the Reception year.
Each child is encouraged to develop their potential through a hands-on, play-based learning environment.
On a weekly basis, children experience a wide variety of activities designed to foster independence and nurture positive attitudes to learning:
- Forest school sessions
- Trips around the local environment
- “Write Dance” (a fun, physical introduction to writing)
- ICT (in our designated computer suite)
Parents are encouraged to view photos and comment on their child’s experiences via a specially designed secure website.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and focus on the three prime areas of development:
- Personal, Social and Emotional development
- Physical development
- Communication and Language
These prime areas provide a firm foundation for the four specific areas:
- Expressive Art and Design
- Understanding the World
The way children learn is very important to us and there is a strong emphasis on developing the “Characteristics of Effective Learning”: Our aim is to help each child become a highly motivated, skilled thinker who is fully engaged and happy in school.
The nursery runs daily from 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. with part time sessions from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon and 12:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Children are allocated either a full-time or part-time place depending on their age.
Please speak to a member of the office team for further information, or if you would like to book an appointment to be shown around the nursery.
In order for your child to move up to our reception class, you will need to apply to the Islington School Admissions Team at 222 Upper Street, London N1 1XR, Tel. 0207 527 5515 for a place. It is advisable to do this application as soon as possible.
